Making Sense of the Crisis | Rachel Donald
Watch the talk I gave to the OST University in Switzerland
Last week I gave my inaugural lecture, Making Sense of the Crisis, to engineers and faculty at Switzerland’s OST University. In it, I explore how narrative subsumes biophysical reality, and how to break out of simple, linear constructs to create possibilities which reflect the complexity of earth's systems.
This talk is a synthesis of everything I’ve learned from Planet: Critical; an attempt to grasp at the big picture by using poetry to reveal systems. It was truly an honour to write it, and I’m thrilled to present you all with it.
I’m blown away by the response and support my lecture has received. A huge thank you to Professor Henrik Nordborg of Global Climate Compensation for the warm invitation, and for being such an excellent host.

Dear Rachel, the pleasure was all mine (or ours). Keep up the good work! To all the poor souls who did not have the pleasure of attending the event: the video is good, but the live lecture was mesmerizing.
Really clever the way you brought all the threads together, and the inter dispersed poetry/prose added meaning to the facts. Bravo!
