It isn't complicated - the discussion you had with Campbell was totally relevant and valuable. Consensus will NEVER be reached without including everyone
Thanks for going the full mile on that Rachel. Campbell may have a dirty history but the question is whether he has real leverage now. You think he has. If so, he's obviously worth having on side. Next interviewee Tony Blair?
Is there a limit to that logic though? How dirty a history could you live with? In the unlikely event that I was ever introduced to Tony Blair, I’m not sure that I could wipe the history of thousands of dead Iraqis from my mind in order to mine his “leverage”.
Got me! I have avoided the Alistair Campbell podcast for a while and, when I think about it, it is probably that I question his means rather than the ends he advocates. That aside, I allowed my prejudice to guide me even while commenting elsewhere about the need to listen and understand those who see things differently. Not perfect after all....!
It's depressing to hear that you had a downturn in subscribers through interviewing Alastair Campbell. I feel that the more we get sucked into 2 polarised camps, which are not listening to each other, the further away solutions to the world's crises are. This polarisation only plays into the hands of the elite who want to hang on to their extreme wealth and power. So thanks for the interview, and for this excellent piece on why we need dialogue with people like Alastair. (Although I would question your suggestion that he is on the left wing! :-) )

Thanks, Dirk, I appreciate this. I'm not sure about Tony, feels like he's disappeared from the public view this past decade.

And that, makes a great deal of sense.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Alastair Campbell interview and look forward to hearing more from a diverse
cross section of interviewees. thankyou.
Well said and well written.
