Brilliant episode! Reminded me of growing up in the forties and fifties in a small village by the Thames and spending my summer holidays on a sheep farm in Wales. How beautiful the countryside was then, and how the simple life we lived was so wholesome: no car, no internet, no air travel, no shopping malls, no rush to get somewhere else. Of course I know it wasn't so idyllic for everyone. And my parents had to work damned hard stacking the hay with pitchforks … for me it was a pleasure. Amusing he thinks himself "old" at 64 when I'm 84; encouraging that maybe my nostalgia has value after all.
