My analysis of why the world is in crisis centres on energy, material flows and resultant power. But over the past few days I have started to wonder if the racialised ideologies weaponised by power are not mere strategies for holding onto what has been, but also very much reasons for defining what comes next. I am wondering, actively, if the White supremacy fanning the fuels of fascism and rending cultural divides in cities is not merely a means to an end, but a genuine set of beliefs by which cruelty, murder, subjugation and destruction are justified—as they always have been.

What I mean by White supremacy perhaps differs from that defined by those deep in the trenches of the culture wars. Certainly, there are those in power who are profoundly racist, and believe their own should be in charge of the world destiny. But then, so do the Silicon Valley tech bro oligarchs, who are not often considered for the racism but rather their profound disinterest in the flesh of all humans, including, in some cases, that of their own children. That these people are White seems of little import to all but Musk who was raised in apartheid South Africa. Rather, they consider themselves educated, intelligent, of superior mind rather than tribe. Its origins are not racially-based. How, then, does it become, so obviously, White supremacy—especially when some of its adherents are not even White?

I received an email last week discussing this from one of my former podcast guests, Henrik Nordborg. In it, he referenced a passage from the book Unconquered States, quoting Winston Churchill writing in 1902:

“I believe that as civilized nations become more powerful they will get more ruthless, and the time will come when the world will impatiently bear the existence of great barbaric nations who may at any time arm themselves and menace civilized nations...The Aryan stock is bound to triumph.”

I often write about the imperial core desperately clinging onto power, but I genuinely had not considered that part of their reasoning was racially-based—that their desire to cling on was not just due to the corruptible nature of power, but also because it is their right as "Aryan stock" to triumph over all other races and thus direct the hand of fate.

Simply, is the future not Green or Red or Blue—but White, or not at all?

What else could explain the continued feverish backing of the fascistic Trump regime in Europe? Which European leader denounced his illegal operation in Venezuela? Which has spoken out against his rhetoric targeting Mexico and Colombia's left-wing President, Petro? Only when their own territory is in the firing line—Greenland—have they squeaked something of a rebuttal. And yet, one of Britain's own Peers, "Lord" Peter Mandelson, former ambassador to Washington before he was sacked, wrote last week in favour of increasing Trump's footprint in Greenland, inviting the US military might to protect NATO (despite it having threatened another member with invasion just days ago).

He wrote: “Britain’s interests and those of other liberal democracies lie in how we harness the power of the US to continue safeguarding the principles — if not always the letter — of the UN Charter.”

There it is, that good old Western exceptionalism which bends the rules so that Western elites can stay on top at any cost. Normally those benefiting from such exceptionalism walk in lockstep with one another, as with the UK and USA's illegal invasion of Iraq. The United States with Trump at the helm, however, is a rogue state; letting him break international law does not guarantee European safety, power or relevance. Quite the contrary—the White House National Security Report put Europe directly in its cross-hairs. So why on Earth would a European elite demand continuing support for Trump's America when other, powerful allies could be found elsewhere? What, apart from a forgotten history, and the ignorant belief that power in the hands of a fellow White man is always preferable to power in the hands of another?

The United States under Trump has made its position very clear: America First. Those decrepit, entitled, weakened European elite who are desperately grasping onto the remnants of a brutal past which promised them the world are foolish for failing to recognise just how little that world now cares about them. Trump's America is not as antiquated as the Old World—its allegiance is not to Whiteness, but White Americans.

This is such a critical distinction. It reveals that until that European elite abandon their own White supremacy, they will fail to take requisite steps to shield themselves from a rogue state which threatens their security, economic prosperity and access to resources. Only by abandoning that deeply embedded European racism could Europe ally itself with the future. I am no fan of centralised states, and abhor China's resource-grabbing in vulnerable territories—but it seems quite obvious that the strongest political coalition on the block is the new bloc, BRICS. Not only does it control almost all of the available mineral supplies, it represents a significant portion of global GDP and the potential of many of its members' emerging economies who can now trade, thanks to China, in their own currencies. Europe is unlikely to—and should not—cosy up to Putin, but cosying up to Trump is no way of protecting itself against Russian aggression. And what is the plan for protecting itself against American aggression, apart from waving little White flags in the hope America remembers its origins?

The future is not White. With any luck, it'll be diverse. But it will never emerge as long as Europe's Aryan stock believe the fruits of America's barbaric triumph will be shared with them.
